The grave of Pvt. John Helman at the Bowers Creek Cemetery is pictured above. The grave marks Powder River County's last Civil War veteran, with a marble headstone furnished by the War Department in 1940 and a Last Union Veteran Buried in this County marker placed in 2020 by Chapman-Compliment Camp #2 of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War.
