The Corner Store in Broadus has come close to completing a remodel. The remodeling process, according to Manager Lyman Amsden, has been an ongoing process which has taken place over the last couple years. A few walls need artwork before the remodel is complete.

New fuel pumps with credit card access have been installed out front, while behind the store, landscaping has made the area across from the IGA more visually appealing. In the summer, the Corner Store's southern deck hosts the local farmer's market, with fresh produce from local growers available for purchase. The Farmer's Market takes place on Saturdays, from 8:30 to noon, or whenever produce runs out. An on-site green house also houses flowers and other greenery.

Inside the store, the counters have been renovated, as have the coolers and bathrooms. The store also features a refrigerator with fishing bait, and the farm store holds an array of items which local ranchers may find necessary.

Several of the walls will soon feature local artwork and photographs, while an entire wall is dedicated to Lyman's family and military treasures. Lyman served in the Navy during WWII, operating on the USS Formoe in the Phillippines. Lyman also served another stint in the Navy during the '50s – during his time in service he saw many ports of call, from Alaska to Key West, and beyond. His wall of memorabilia in the Corner Store reflects upon his service, as well as that of his brothers, four of whom also served in the military. The family grew up on a ranch north of Broadus; pictures of Lyman's parents working on the ranch are also found in the store.

Even at 92 years of age, Amsden has no plans to retire. Lyman is still quite spry, accomplishing a myriad of tasks around the store, while also serving as long time mayor of Broadus. His son, John Amsden, purchased the store in 2004 from Cenex, and Lyman has been running the store ever since.
