The small community of Broadus has many talented people and experts in their field. From artists, quilters, gardeners, contractors, business entrepreneurs and many more, along with awesome livestock producers. Craig O'Gorman has been the livestock protector since 1976 in our county and still continues today. Most recently he received the Trapper's Hall of Fame award and honor from the North American Trappers; along with in the past years: The Flock Guardian Award from the American Sheep Industry; Nebraska Fur Harvesters presentation of dedication and tireless effort in founding the Nebraska Fur Harvesters in 1977; Nebraska Fur Harvesters Hall of Fame; Iowa Trappers Hall of Fame, Utah Trappers Association Award; Montana Trappers Association in appreciation for contributions and support; Award for Animal Damage Control Profession; Powder River Conservation District in appreciation for speaking at the District Area II meeting and Certificate of Appreciation from "Traps4Kids".

Craig has been the author of numerous articles, too numerous to mention; many books; along with multiple cinema films. He has instructed over 1,400 trappers in the art of predator control and is the inventor of many products for trapping. He has been a director for the Iowa Trappers Association, National Trappers Association Representative for Nebraska, one of the founders of the Nebraska Fur Harvesters Association, a past Director of the Montana Trappers Association. He is a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association, the Iowa Trappers Association, the National Trappers Association and the U.S. Sportsmen's Alliance. He has paid his dues and contributed money and time for the betterment of trapping for over 58 years; almost half of it in a full time manner.

Early on he had worked 6 years part time and full time for the Federal Government in Predator Control. Craig has over 1,475,200 trap line miles behind him personally in his trapping career and over 49,150 total animals to date. Best 12 month coyote kills: 1,423; 1,343 and 1,105.

Craig working solely by himself, covers the whole Powder River County; he uses many tools: traps, snares, M-44's, rifle and with the helicopter, which is now unavailable due to a change in predator management philosophy by certain individuals.

Congratulations Craig on all of your successes. Craig is available to the ranchers whenever they need him.
