Hammond/Hawks Home Schools team up with Schwan's to provide educational funds

The Hammond/Hawks Home Schools are looking to raise money through an interesting route this fall, for their School Readiness Program. The Schools have teamed up with Schwan’s food delivery service to offer a chance to donate to the program. How it works is that anyone in the area who wishes to donate through the program simply needs to indicate that they would like to do so on their normal Schwan’s order. Heather Brownfield, who works with the School Readiness Program, explained the process: “You won’t be charged any more for your order and the program receives 20% of the profits from the sales. We’ve set an ambitious goal of $800 so order up a meal and take a night off from cooking or enjoy some delicious ice cream and know your order is helping raise the funds to keep the School Readiness Program (preschool) going for these young kids! You will get your order on your normal delivery.”

The School Readiness Program was set up as an alternative to pre-school, which wasn’t an option in the rural community. Kids aged 3-5 are able to attend school one day per week through the program, which provides them with an opportunity to get young ones on the path to learning.
