Peggy Deibel Jones passed away on October 17, 2018 at the age of 78. Peggy Ann Stewart was born to Anna Le and Pete Stewart on July 8, 1940 in Glasgow, Montana. She was later joined by brother Lyle. She graduated from Malta High School where she was involved in band, chorus, and FHA. After high school she attended Montana State College in Bozeman, Montana. It was there she earned her RN Degree. She worked as a nurse in Great Falls and Malta. During her time in Bozeman, she met Jack Deibel and in 1961 they married. They purchased a ranch at Volborg, MT and for a town girl, it was a big move to go to a ranch in the middle of nowhere. It was there they had their 4 daughters, Jackee, Wendee, Karalee and Kristee. Peggy helped on the ranch when she could, but was kept busy with a large garden and lots of time cooking, baking and running the girls around to 4-H meetings and school events. Jack and Peggy divorced in 1984 and from there she moved into Broadus.

After her move to Broadus, Peggy worked for the Superintendent of Schools, rode with the ambulance, and clerked for the Justice of the Peace. In 1986, she married Harlan Jones. Together they enjoyed riding Harlan's motorcycle, even though Peggy was a little hesitant to begin with, and they enjoyed camping in the Big Horns during the summers. In March of 1987, Peggy was elected Justice of the Peace for Powder River County and held that position for almost 20 years. She was very proud of the work she did and made many friends with other judges throughout the state.

Peggy was able to do some traveling with her daughters and got to go to places like Ireland, Nova Scotia, California and Ohio to tour the Amish country. She enjoyed her short trips with the girls to Bozeman and Red Lodge. Peggy was always well dressed, and always had the perfect clothes for every occasion. She loved to quilt and made a quilt for every one of her grandkids, even though the last one didn't quite get completed before her health took a turn. Peggy's quilting club family, her church family and her friends meant a lot to her. Peggy's best friend from childhood and life, was Shirley Oscarson Wood, and they made a lifetime of memories together in 66 years, from grade school to Sunday school, and from high school to college. They were able to get together in May and travel to their 60th high school graduation in Malta. Peggy had a grand time. She also loved to garden, and had her family fill up two very large raised garden boxes this year so it was easier for her to reach her crops. Peggy was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, the Coalwood Ladies Aid and the Eastern Star.

Peggy adored her family and got to go see her newest great-grandchild this spring. She is survived by her husband, Harlan Jones; her daughters Jackee (Craig) Randall and their four children, Lee (Missy) Randall and their kids Addi, Kinzie, Lexington and Doonan; Kari (Cory) Wilder and son Liam, Tayler and Jay; Wendee (Aaron) Essex and their kids Truman (Justine) Essex, and Tyler; Karalee (Warren) Fritz and their kids, Henry and Jack; and Kristee (Ward) Weischedel and their kids Jessica (Jay) Phipps and Riley; her brother Lyle (Caryl) Stewart; a niece Becky and Nephew John and their families. She was also survived by Harlan's children, Debbie and Deed Jones, and Gary and Linda Jones. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents Pete and Anna Le Stewart, a grandson, Joshua Randall, and sister-in-law, Lee Hubbard.

Visitation will begin on Sunday, October 21, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Broadus with family receiving friends from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 22, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Faith Bible Church in Broadus.
