The Broadus Hawks football team and coaching staff made the long journey to Scobey last Wednesday, to play in their final regular season game. The winner of the game would move on to playoffs, the losers would go home to nurse their injuries and train for next year.

"Scobey kicked off to us to begin the game," Broadus Head Coach Ross Randall said. "We got the ball, but stalled out on our first drive and had to punt."

On Scobey's first play from scrimmage, the QB threw a play action pass, with the receiver catching a ball thrown over the DB's heads, sprinting down field for a touchdown. This play would set the tone for the game, as Scobey's tall and quick offense was able to out match Broadus. Meanwhile, Broadus starters Troy Amsden and Dillon Wahl were both injured during the game, and while expected to recover, the injuries to key players hurt the team as a whole during the game.

On the offensive side of the ball, QB Tate Harmon had a long run for a touchdown, and drove in another short run, but the two touchdowns couldn't match Scobey's offense, and the Hawks fell 58-14 at the end of the 4th quarter.

With the loss, the Hawks finish their season at 5-4 for the year. Broadus also graduates eight seniors, which will be extremely tough on the Hawks future roster, especially considering only one 8th grader started the JH season this year. Randall said that as it sits, Ekalaka is expected to join our conference next season, and he expects Circle to lose a number of Seniors. Otherwise, the tough teams in our conference – Fairview, Culbertson, Circle, and Scobey, look to remain tough.

Randall added: "I'd like to thank our Seniors for all their hard work. Thomas Drane, Clay LaPlant, Troy Amsden, Tate Harmon, Larry Hunt, Dalton Wahl, Hunter Robinson, and Mason Hunt, you guys are great, and I wish you the best. I'd like to give a special thanks to Thomas, Dalton, Tate, and Larry for playing all four years of high school. Good job, guys!"
