Letters to the Editor

To the Editor.
The new congress is in the news every day this time of year, and they have all now taken their oath of office, to uphold and defend the constitution of the United States. Even if you are a judge in a local election you take the same oath, as do all of our county officials, state officials maybe even dogcatchers.
When you consider the unconstitutional nature of so much of the activities our federal government is involved in, it would seem there is an extreme lack of knowledge of the Constitution, even though they have taken that oath.
There was a time in our nation’s history when most Americans had a firm understanding of the Constitution. In our early history a French diplomat by the name of Alexis De Toqueville studied our system to try to understand the amazing phenomenon of America and he was taken by the fact that nearly everyone understood the Constitution and why it was constructed the way it was, no matter their station in society.
For the next 4 weeks the John Birch Society is sponsoring a video series entitled “The Constitution is the Solution” at 7 P.M. every Tuesday evening at the Sagebrush Motel hospitality room. Anyone is welcome and there is no charge. It is a great non-partisan study of the Constitution and the reasons for why it was worded the way it was. We invite anyone to attend.
