2018 was an interesting year. It didn’t seem like we had a lot of wildland fires, probably because none of them got very big since we didn’t have that much grass to burn. I believe the largest acreage fire was just across the county line in Custer County and went over 250 acres in a short amount of time, then the wind quit. We went to the southwest corner of our county about 8 times for some lightning caused fires and a couple of coal seam fires.
