Powder River Conservation District, NRCS Gathering Local Input

February 22, 2019

By Shanna Talcott

The Powder River Conservation District and Broadus Natural Resources Conservation Service encourage Powder River County agricultural producers to participate in the upcoming Local Working Group meetings.

The purpose of the LWG meetings is to discuss and prioritize the types and locations of natural resource concerns occurring in Powder River County.

Why is it important for local Ag producers to participate? LWG priorities will impact where NRCS focuses technical and financial assistance in the next three to five years.

Broadus NRCS staff will be spending the summer of 2019 working on solutions and conservation plans with producers who operate in the highest priority area determined by the participants of the LWG meetings. NRCS will then target those plans for implementation in 2020 and beyond, using Farm Bill programs such as the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP).
