4-H Speaks Out and Shows the Way!

Want to know how to maintain your fishing reel? Or how to make wiggle bots, slime, or bovine bookmarks? Twenty-two 4-H members shared their knowledge at the annual County 4-H Demonstration Day Sunday, according to Powder River Extension Agent Mary Rumph.
Teen 4-H member and past participant of National 4-H Congress in Atlanta, Georgia, Karena Appleman explained to the youth how giving demonstrations helped her to earn a trip to National 4-H Congress. Karena shared the highlights of the trip to an engaged audience of youth and adults.
"Karena encouraged the participants to be active in leadership and community service, to complete their projects and to keep accurate records so they could apply for state awards," said Julie Riley, Extension Agent. "She was a successful state winner in the Quilting Project," explained Riley. Karena also gave a demonstration on "How to Give a Demonstration", earning top honors in the Senior Division.
Participants included Cloverbuds Hanna and John Dudek and Delaney Ruland; First Year – Kade VerWolf, Whitney Hartman, Alexis Gotfredson, Ashton Madsen, Kassie Hagedorn and Emelyn Harper; Junior Division – Laney Williams, Colton Jones and Madisyn Kramme; Intermediate Division – Noah Dudek, Shyla Madsen, Zachary Jones, Jeff Cahoon, Rheanna and Jayce Schroeder, Kayleigh Opstedahl, Tayla Randall and Darren VerWolf, who recited cowboy poetry.
First Year Division top honors went to Grand Champion Emelyn Harper; Reserve (tie) Alexis Gotfredson and Ashton Madsen; Junior Division – Grand Champion Laney Williams; Reserve, Colton Jones; Intermediate Division – Grand Champion, Rheanna Schroeder; Reserve Jeff Cahoon.
Judges for the event included Doug Wilbert, Molly Lloyd, Sherrie Fredrickson and Brandi Billing.
