Artisan's Society to host workshop by Eileen Nistler

April 25, 2019

The Artisan Society, Art & Soul, will be hosting a colored pencil workshop, taught by renowned artist, Eileen Nistler of Upton, Wyoming. Eileen teaches a burnishing technique which results in a work of art that resembles an oil painting. The class will be held in the basement of the Lutheran Church on May 11. There are still a couple of spots open but the deadline is looming. Supplies, which will be furnished, will be included in the fee if there are at least 11 participants. More details can be found on the Art & Soul Facebook page.

In other society news, Lawrence Giacometto has generously offered his building (the old Cal-Gas office, and more recently the store Just a Stitchin’) as a venue for the July Art Show. A Call for Artists has been put out and entries are already coming in. The work of past and present artists of Powder River County (living or deceased) are eligible. At this time, it is uncertain whether there will be a separate location for the deceased artist’s work, but regardless we hope to have a good representation of their work.

A book sharing program was started at the last meeting and will continue as long as there is interest. Books can be shared for just the evening or for longer term at the discretion of the owner. Any titles pertaining to art or art instruction are appropriate.

Members will be helping Laura Lee Ullrich paint the backdrop for the musical she is writing and producing for the Centennial Celebration.

Ann Emmons has agreed to do an Alcohol Ink demonstration at the August meeting, and a Karen Knutson class will be offered sometime in the (hopefully near) future.

The next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, May 30. Members are encouraged to bring along an art project to work on, or one they would like to have critiqued.
