The VFW Auxiliary Post 1595 in Broadus sponsors the Young American Creative Patriotic Art Contest at our Powder River County District High School. This year the VFW Auxiliary awarded cash prizes to the top three winners. Lacey Robinson and Abbie Heacock both received 2nd place and cash awards for their watercolor and acrylic paintings of military soldiers. Savannah Weaver received 1st place for her watercolor portrait of her birth mother, who served in the military. Savannah's artwork has gone on to represent our district at the state level. The Montana winning artwork will then go on to compete in the Young American Creative Patriotic Art contest at the national level this summer for scholarships totaling over $30,000.

Representatives from the VFW Auxiliary Post 1595 presented the cash awards at the PRDCHS awards assembly on April 30th. They also presented art teacher, Connie Barnhart with flowers and thanks for her help and encouragement in the Young American Creative Patriotic Art Contest for the past years.
