May weather was cool and wet


A healthy young lamb enjoys life amongst the head high grass and dandelions. The heavy rains of May contributed greatly to the plant growth.

The area saw a cooler, wetter May than normal, with precipitation totals close to double the average for May.

The official rain gauge at the Courthouse in Broadus collected 4.22" of precip (both in the form of snow and rain) over the course of May, compared to 2.36" normally. The highest amount, .84" collected on May 18th, came in the form of cold, wet snow.

The high temp for Broadus in May came on the 13th through the 16th, with the thermometer topping out at 82. The low came on May 2nd, at 28. The last official freeze came on the 12th, with a 31 degree low, though the mercury dipped to 3...
