The Broadus Little League kicked off baseball action on June 3, with a rousing double header featuring the Chaznline Red Sox and Bill Bahny Cubs. Due to some rain delays, the season started a week later than originally planned, but the opening night had beautiful weather. All of the players had a great opening night that saw several great plays in the field as well as some excellent hitting by both teams.

Game number one on the night was controlled by the Red Sox, as they came away with a 12 to 4 victory over the Cubs. Game number 2 was won by the Cubs in a 15 to 7 victory. The second game even had two home runs, one by each team! Cordell Schonenback smashed one to the outfield for the Red Sox and Landyn Merwin hit one of his own for the Cubs. All in all it was a great night of baseball and everyone is looking forward to the next games of the season.

The two teams will play each other on June 11, and June 18, with a double-header each night, starting at 5:30 pm. The final night of baseball will be June 24th, with one game. Come out to watch these teams and enjoy some great baseball action!

Also give a big thanks to Amber and Dan McDowell, Cass and Amanda Zimmer, and Chad and Cynde Jo Gatlin for all of their hard work renovating the field, installing a new backstop, and getting a new concession stand for the field. Their time and effort for the baseball field and our community is greatly appreciated!

Thank you all for your help!
