Art & Soul, Powder River County’s own Artisan Society, met recently to finalize plans for the upcoming Art Show and Sale. The Show will be held on the 4th, 5th, and 6th of July during the Centennial Celebration. Hours are 10-6 on Thursday and Friday, and 10-4 on Saturday. It will feature past and present artists from Powder River County. All 15 members of Art & Soul will be exhibiting their work. They are: Gaylene Phillips Fortner, Lana Kay Minow Smith, Tess Schwieterman, Laura Lee Irion Ullrich, Jan Stevens, Ann Knudson Emmons, Karen Woodring, Sonja Harrington, Kim Compton Blain, Kathy Heidel, Blondie Wetherelt Woolston, Ronda Robinson Gatlin, Kate Settle Ruland, Connie Barnhart and Jordan Smith.

Other resident artists are Francis Hayes, Amber Smith and Brian Tarter. Rounding out the list of talented artists are these former residents: Linda Yonkee Carey, Karen Nisley Knutson, Cheryl Fields, Susan Denson Jerke, Stacey Fortner, Dixie Taylor Rogers, and Barbara Hensley Lancaster. A variety of mediums will be represented, including oil, watercolor and acrylic painting, pastel, drawing, scratchboard, sculpting, beading, gourd art, stained glass and photography. In addition to the 70 pieces of artwork there will be a selection of antiques on display from Jane’s Weathered Antiques. Guests of the show will be given the opportunity to vote for their favorite art pieces and will be the “judges” for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place people’s choice awards. Voting will take place the first two days of the show, and the winners will be announced on Saturday morning. Cash awards will be sponsored by Art & Soul.

Other business included the decision to sponsor a youth art award at the County Fair and discussion of the Karen Nisley Knutson art workshop/class to be held in July of 2020.

The next meeting will be held on July 25.
