Lockwood back on top as World #1 Bullrider
August 15, 2019
Professional Bullrider and hometown lad Jess Lockwood climbed back to the top of the PBR standings on Sunday, after winning the Express Ranches Classic, in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Lockwood led the pack earlier this year after back to back wins in New York and Chicago, until a broken collarbone sidelined the young man through the spring. Lockwood returned to riding earlier this summer, steadily regaining points as he set his sights on points leader, Chase Outlaw.
In Tulsa, Lockwood rode all three of his bulls, including a 88.5 point ride on Uncle Gangster, an 88 point ride in round two on Stunt Man Ray, and a 90 point ride on Biker Bob in the championship.
Lockwood left Tulsa with a nifty check for $38,050, and 560 points, which puts him above Outlaw by 20 points.
Jess won the Tulsa event in 2017, which also happened to be his Championship Winning season. Interestingly enough, six of the last ten winners in Tulsa went on to win the world title.
