South Stacey students celebrate Centennial

South Stacey School students celebrated the Montana Centennial several weeks ago with a birthday party.

The Horkan Creek students and teacher joined the celebration.

As did other rural schools, South Stacey students each chose a character from Montana’s history to portray. They then gave short speeches about their character’s significance to Montana.

Bethany Dice came as Calamity Jane, Adam Dice portrayed Jim Bridger, Levi Butts portrayed Buffalo Bill and Heidi Butts portrayed Sacajawea.

Festivities, according to instructor Margie Gaskill, also included the ringing of bells, making and eating a birthday cake, and viewing a tape of the Great Centennial Cattle Drive.
