On February 20, 2020, Liz Riter with the Powder River Conservation District, and Elizabeth Emeline with the American Bird Conservancy (ABC), met with the Kindergarten class to teach them about food groups, pizza, and grassland birds. First, we talked about foods raised on our local ranches and gardens. The students then sorted pictures of food into the different food groups: the grain group, meat group, vegetable group, fruit group, and milk group. We built pretend pizzas out of felt while continuing to discuss food groups.

Next on the agenda, Elizabeth talked about different grassland birds and left a bird matching game for the students to play. Last, we had a snack of Seabeck Pizza and orange juice. Yummy!
