The "Spring Fling" photo challenge sponsored by Powder River Extension was certainly a challenge with wind, snow and cold over the weekend, said Mary Rumph, Extension Agent.

"Our winner was Darren VerWolf," announced Rumph, "who braved the weather to take photos twice when the first photos wouldn't download." He spent a couple hours acquiring six pictures depicting spring. His photos, portraying baby chicks and two day old kittens, as well as a tulip in the snow, are pictured on this page. Last week's photo of a whitetail shed featured in the Examiner was submitted by Delaney Ruland, who participated in the Great Nature Scavenger Hunt photo contest.
