Hand Sanitizer and Masks Available for PR County's Most Vulnerable

MSU-Extension-Powder River has teamed up with Hopa Mountain, the Powder River County Health Department, the Senior Center, and the Powder River First Responders to distribute small containers of hand sanitizer and face masks to the most vulnerable populations in the Powder River County area.

Older adults and those who are immune suppressed are the most at-risk of contracting COVID-19. The small containers of hand sanitizer and masks are available free to these populations. Because the Senior Center is not open to the public, the MSU Extension Office is providing pick-up and distribution of the masks and sanitizer.

Bonnie Sachatello-Sawyer, Executive Director and Cathy Costakis, Volunteer of Hopa Mountain reached out to the Powder River County Extension Office to determine the need in Broadus for PPE masks, hand sanitizer or food. Powder River Public Health said that the community has large quantities of hand sanitizer, but no small containers, so Hopa Mountain mailed the containers to Broadus.

Hopa Mountain is a Bozeman-based, nonprofit organization that invests in rural and tribal citizen leaders as they improve aspects of their community such as education, ecological health and economic development.

If you or someone you know needs hand sanitizer or face masks, please contact the Powder River Extension Office at 436-2424.
