Visit Southeast Montana tourism recently joined forces with the Powder River Chamber of Commerce & Ag to launch a program that will incentivize local businesses and individuals to help slow community spread of COVID-19.

Using funds from a federal CARES grant, Visit Southeast Montana will sponsor the program and the Powder River Chamber will administer and execute. Individuals and business that sign the Out Here We CARE pledge will receive a $25 gift card purchased from local Powder River Chamber businesses as a reward for their agreement.

In Broadus, gift cards are limited and will be awarded on a first-come-first-serve basis to those that sign the pledge. Limit for individuals is 1 per household. Businesses are limited to the lesser of 5 or the number of current employees.

The program is completely voluntary and is designed not as a directive but rather as an incentive.

Storefront Businesses will be asked to pledge to...

• Display provided Montana Aware safety message poster at business entrance

• Request front-end and/or customer-facing staff to wear masks

• Take safety steps that encourage social distancing and healthy hygiene within the establishment

• Stay home if feeling unwell

• Practice social distancing and healthy hygiene (wash hands frequently and/or use hand sanitizer)

"We really want to encourage individuals and businesses in the Broadus community to take little steps that could result in big changes," said Brenda Maas, Director of Marketing for Visit Southeast Montana tourism. "The locally-purchased gift cards give a perk to those who pledge while helping hometown businesses."

Maas added that the Powder River Chamber is the perfect organization to execute the Out Here We CARE program.
