November 16, 2020

Commissioners Donna Giacometto, Rod Schaffer, and Lee Randall met for their weekly meeting.

John Olson, Commissioner-elect, joined the meeting.

Consent agenda was read and approved.

Marty Drane, Maintenance Supervisor, met with the board to update them on courthouse repairs, the sheriff’s office remodel, and his purchase of disinfectant wipes for the courthouse. The keys and scheduling for the Multipurpose Building and Community Center were discussed. The board asked Drane to look into a keyless/computer entry for both buildings.

Teel Mullanix, Road Supervisor, met with the board. Mullanix informed the board that the gravel hauling on Ranch Creek is going well and should be finished by Christmas. Continued gravel hauling was discussed.

Cass Zimmer, Town of Broadus, met with the board to discuss the garbage issue at the truck stop across from the Cashway Café. The State of Montana is not going to take care of the trash at these stops. Commissioner Giacometto stated the State recommended the County and City to write a letter in regards to this issue.

Resolution 2020-29, Resolution to Amend Powder River County Procurement policy was read and Rod Schaffer motioned to approve, Donna Giacometto seconded the motion, all in favor, motion carried.

The board reviewed the Powder River County 2020 Weed Management Plan. The board signed and approved the weed plan.

Resolution 2020-28, Resolution for Distribution of Local Option Vehicle Tax was read and discussed, Rod Schaffer motioned to approve resolution, Donna seconded the motion, all in favor, motion carried.

The official canvass for the 2020 Federal General Election was held. Canvassing board, Lee Randall, Aletta Shannon and Donna Giacometto and Acting Secretary, Cynde Jo Gatlin, Election Administrator, were present. Commissioner Rod Schaffer recused himself. Board officially certified election results.

Sean Hill, Medical Administrator, met with the board. Per diem nurses were discussed. Various issues were discussed.

After finishing the day’s business, and no further public comment, the meeting was adjourned at 5:00 p.m.

November 23, 2020

Commissioners Donna Giacometto and Lee Randall were present for their weekly meeting.

Meeting was called to order.

No public comment was received at this time.

Consent agenda was read and approved.

Teel Mullanix, Road Supervisor, stopped in to talk to Commissioners. Mullanix reported the Randall Pit permit has been finalized and updated on the gravel hauling project.

Cynde Jo Gatlin, Clerk & Recorder, updated board on the upcoming visit from the auditor, Bob Denning, and informed the board a concerned citizen was in to express concerns regarding the Moorhead Road.

Mary Rumph, Extension Office, met with the board. Rumph updated on various projects the Extension Office is working on. New 4-H enrollments were discussed. Rumph stated people interested in the grasshopper program should contact her office.

Commissioners then discussed the garbage issue at the truck stop across from the Cashway Café and weigh station. It was discussed again that this is not a county issue, but rather the responsibility of the State of Montana. Commissioners will proceed to contact someone at a higher office than the regional office.

Bob Denning, Denning, Downing & Associates, County Auditor and Cynde Jo Gatlin, Clerk & Recorder, met with board.

Sean Hill, Medical Administrator, met with board. COVID funds and temporary nursing positions to help aid in staffing were also discussed.

No public comment was heard at this time.
