Elizabeth Margaret Beesley

January 7, 2021

Elizabeth Margaret Beesley passed away on December 12, 2020 in Gillette, Wyoming. Betty was born on the 9th of November, 1925 the daughter of Cleveland and Lucille McManus Evans.

Betty was born on the family ranch/homestead on Duck Creek in Campbell County near Weston, Wyoming. She joined an older brother and sister, James and Aileen (Engdahl). Later born into the family were sisters Collette (Music) and Joan.

Betty married Robert Wilson in December of 1941. They set up housekeeping in a sheep wagon near Ridge, Montana, where Bobby worked for his uncle, Bob Ormesher. Together Betty and Bobby worked around and about southeastern Montana and northeastern Wyoming for several years. They then returned to work with Bob in 1954.

In 1969 they acquired the Ab Castleberry and Thrailkill places from Bob Ormesher and moved to Belle Creek community. Together they raised three sons, Jim (Louise) born in Broadus, and John (Joyce), and Jerry (Bea) born enroute to Gillette in 1946, who all live in southeast Montana.

In 1973 Bobby passed away and Betty left the ranch to live in Belle Fourche, SD for a short time. In 1975, Betty met and married Beesley. Following their marriage, they returned to the ranch on Horse Creek near Belle Creek, Montana. Betty and Jim remained on the ranch until his passing in 1997. At that time Betty moved to Gillette, Wyoming where she lived until her passing.

Betty enjoyed playing cards and was a rather fierce competitor at cribbage, skip-bo, pinochle, and hand and foot. If you were playing for small change, you needed to be prepared to pay up when you lost!

She took a true delight in her children, grandchildren and their families. She had a love for friends and neighbors, and it seems her goal in life was to make things easier for others and to help in any way she could.

Betty is best remembered for her ability to start with thin groceries and put a full delicious meal on the table in short order. She as well as her pies and cakes will be sorely missed. She was a kind person that always had a good word for others, had a positive outlook on life, and the ability to find humor in almost anything.

Betty was preceded in death by her husbands, her parents, all siblings, one grandchild born to John and Joyce, and one great-grandson, Austin, son of Bart and Brenda Wilson. Betty is survived by all three of her sons and their wives, 15 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews spanning three generations. Rest in peace, you lovely lady. Memorials and condolences may be sent in care of Walker Funeral Home 410 Medical Arts Court, Gillette, WY 82716.
