One hundred are walking for charity

The 4th annual Steps for Charity Challenge kicked off on February 1st. 100 people, or 25 teams, stepped up to the challenge. The event provides extra motivation to get physically active and raises awareness and money for some great local causes.

"I walked to work today, but I don't know about tomorrow," explained one enthusiastic participant who looked at the weather forecast. Being physically active in winter can be extra challenging.

"I walked to exercise class," explained another.

The Steps for Charity Challenge is sponsored by the Powder River Trails and the MSU Extension Office. The teams, their members and their charities are as follows:

A Case of Winey Women, consisting of team members Cynde Jo Gatlin, Nancy Gaskill, Tracey Gorder and Wendy Twedt are walking for St. Vincent De Paul.

Walking for Eastern Montana Mental Health Center are Berries and Cherries with members Brenden Stevenson, Callie Williams, Erica Naillon and Ayche Draine.

The Biddle Trekkers, including walkers Owen Rumph, Mary Rumph, Jackie Rumph and Evan Rumph are stepping for the Biddle Community Heritage Center.

The Boot & Tackle Club, sponsored by Broadus Boot and Tack, includes members Jeanne Sparks, Don Rogge, Tedi Jo Williams and Bailey Sparks. Their charity is the Broadus Cancer Fund.

Cardiac Arrests, made up of team members Allen Drane, Drew Gatlin, Shane Copps and Denni Schuetzle are hoping to win the challenge to benefit Powder River Trails.

Julie Russell, Heather LaPlant, Shirley Russell and Dianne Engel of the CornerStore team are walking for St. Jude's Children's Cancer Research.

Heather Brownfield, Joni Draine, Nichole King and Shelley West, the Country Kickers, are walking for the Broadus Cancer Fund.

The Functional Eagles consists of Joan Knobloch, Zadeea Graham, Sterling Graham and Corey Knobloch. Their charity is the Ronald McDonald House in Billings.

The H2 MeOw team of Raymond Ragsdale, Donna Wilson, Chrystal Mitchell and Kelda Page are sponsored by Gone Ropin' Construction and walking for the Amanda Gaskill Spay & Neuter Fund.

The Jacam Joggers team, sponsored by Jacam, includes Kate Riley, James Riley, Elizabeth Reierson and Phil Reierson. Powder River Trails is their charity of choice.

Living La Vida Lockdown members Morgan Weller, Vikki Klemm, Kerry Gardner and Darlynn Williams chose the Aidan Kenelly Medical Fund to benefit from their steps.

The Marching Mamas consisting of Tammy Van Tine, Ashley Van Tine, Shanna Talcott and Liz Riter are taking their steps for Crafts for Seniors at the Nursing Home.

Oldies & Goodies team members Pat Smith, Evelyn Williams, Roberta Farnes and Karen Gunther have Powder River Senior Center as their charity.

The American Diabetes Association is the charity of choice for the Penguin Pacers team of Randy Sullivan, Brenda Czoer, Thelma Taylor and Mary Smith.

Powder River Pals members Christine Appleman, Kathy Bowers, Amber Hart and Sammie Hart are walking for the Broadus Cancer Fund.

Power Walkers John Olson, Jenny Olson, Dee Katus and Lyman Amsden chose the Aidan Kenelly Medical Fund as their charity.

Purrfect Moovers members include Lynne Pedersen, Cindy May, Jessica Rumph and Liz McRae. They chose the Amanda Gaskill Spay & Neuter Fund as their charity and are sponsored by the Broadus Vet Clinic.

Sharon Billing, Kristina Ryan, Carole Richards and Jeanne Rogge, known as the Soleful Strutters, are taking their steps for the Amanda Gaskill Spay & Neuter Fund.

Steps for Kara team members include Louise Talcott, Connie Capra, LaTrisha Bilbrey and Ashley Bilbrey. They are walking for the Kara Lambert Medical Fund.

Kristi Elgin, John Elgin, Sherry Huckins and Coaly Huckins' team, the Super Troopers, are walking for the Aidan Kenelly Medical Fund.

The "J" Walkers, with members Julie Riley, Jerry Lei, Jackie Slovak and John Amsden chose Powder River Trails as their charity.

The New "40" team of Louise Wilson, Peggy Kolka, Lori Dinstel and Jackie Walden are walking for the Broadus Cancer Fund.

Sponsored by Tongue River Crossroads 4-H, the Trekkers include members Theresa Dudek, Hanna Dudek, Noah Dudek and Casey Knobloch. The Ronald McDonald House in Billings is their choice of charity.

Walkers for Life members Katie Ward, Pat Phillippi, Dr. George Ceremuga and Pam Ceremuga are taking their steps for the Aidan Kenelly Medical Fund.

Sharon Collins, Brenda Minow, Karen Amende and Marge Mader, the Walkie Talkies, chose the Broadus Cancer Fund as their charity.
