Steps for Charity

Week 7

“Walk as if you are kissing the Earth with your feet.” – Thich Nhat Hang

“Did you know you can get 276 STEPS dancing to Abba’s Waterloo?” – Dee Katus

“Steps after hip surgery should be worth five times as much” --Mary Rumph

Two charities are highlighted this week:

One is the Ronald McDonald House (RMH) in Billings. Two teams, The TREKKERS and the Functional Eagles, both from the Tongue River Crossroads 4-H Club, chose this charity because “many of our families have benefitted from this service, and we used this generous service when our daughter was born.” RMH’s mission is to help families physically, financially, and emotionally during their health care journey particularly when families must travel far from home to access medical care for their child. THE TREKKERS are Theresa, Hanna and Noah Dudek and Casey Knobloch, and the FUNCTIONAL EAGLES are Joan and Corey Knobloch, and Zadeea and Sterling Graham.

The Powder River Trails was chosen by three teams, and include:

CARDIAC ARRESTS, who are Allen Drane, Drew Gatlin, Shane Copps and Denni Schuetzle, the second Powder River County law enforcement team to participate in STEPS for CHARITY!

THE “J” WALKERS who are Julie Riley, Jerry Lei, Jackie Slovak and John Amsden; and,

THE JACAM JOGGERS, sponsored by Jacam, and include James and Katie Riley and Elizabeth and Phil Reierson.

These teams chose Powder River Trails because “we enjoy the trails and would like to see them improve and expand.” The Powder River Trails, with help from many volunteers, individuals and organizations built the Fit Trail north of town, created a walking map of Broadus, memorialized loved ones with beautiful benches around town and organizes the Steps for Charity and the 4th of July Freedom Run.

Fun Way to Enrich Family Mealtimes…

WALK and TALK together. Most families need more physical activity to stay strong and healthy. A simple WALK (before or after dinner) is an easy way to add 15 or 20 minutes of fun, physical activity – and some quality TALK time—to your family’s day. Choose a restaurant near your home, a park or a playground – or WALK around the IGA when the weather is bad.

WALKing can be a game. You can always WALK a dog; they love to play with balls and sticks. Children of all ages can get into a silly game of Simon Says while WALKing. WALK with your hands on your head or behind your back. Swing your arms like a chimp or an elephant’s trunk. Prance along on your tippy toes, twirl in circles, or skip together.

MEALTIME Conversation Starters …for TOTS and people like you.

If you could have a superpower, would you rather fly or be invisible? Why?

What is the nicest thing you did for someone today? What is the nicest thing someone did for you?

If you could be an animal in the world for a day, which animal would it be?
