Hawk Golf continues to improve

Girls take first in two meets

The Broadus HS golf team has had a busy week, after weather cancelled several earlier meets late in April.

The team competed in Baker, Glendive, and at the Wibaux Triangular, which was also held in Baker, as well as Harlowton, for which results were not yet available at press time.

At the Wibaux Triangular on April 22nd, Wyatt Gee placed 5th with a 98, followed by Joziah Brost with a 100, Kortny Cathey with a 103, Colton Biesheuvel with a 111, and Paysen Kuhbacher with a 126.

For the girls, Aspen Krantz golfed a 148, Graci Barbero a 130, and Rheanna Schroeder a 152.

The Broadus boys placed second at the triangular, with a 301 total, beating Class C Wibaux by 19. Class B Baker won the meet with a 256.

At the Glendive Meet on April 26th, the Broadus girls took first place with Emma Isaacs leading the way for the Hawks with a 111, while Lea Aye and Graci Barbero both shot a 119, Olivia Schaffer had a 133 and Lauryn Billing had a 149.

The Broadus boys team scored a 316 for third place at Glendive. Individual scores included Joziah Brost with a 93, Cooper Zimmer with a 110, Wyatt Gee with a 113, and Colton Biesheuvel with a 114.

At the Baker Meet, individual scores for the boys team were Joziah Brost with a 94, followed by Cooper Zimmer with a 108, Kortny Cathey with a 111, and Solomon Bradley with a 117.

The Broadus girls once again proved they were out to win at Baker, scoring a 419 to win the tournament as a team. Bowman, ND followed with a second place 441 score. For Broadus, Emma Isaacs golfed her season’s best with a 98, Lea Aye had a 106 and Graci Barbero a 107, both qualifying for State, Lauryn Billing a 108, and Lacey Robinson a 138.

This week the team competed at Sidney on Tuesday, and at home in Broadus on Wednesday, both after our deadline to head to the printer. Next Monday, team members will have one last chance to qualify, at Baker in a dual vs Wibaux, and a JV meet will be held on Friday in Forsyth. Those qualifying and making the team for State will then compete in Bozeman, on May 17-19.

Chad told us that the kids are really starting to play well as they go into their last week of the regular season, just in time for the state tournament, and he is excited to see the end results of the team’s efforts.
