Library to hold summer art and reading programs

By Cody Earley

This summer, the library will be providing several unique programs. First up: “LiterARTSY”! Each week, kids of all ages will have the opportunity to read (and listen to) a variety of different books and engage in fun art projects. Our goal is to have as many different art forms represented; that is where the many wonderful artists in our community come in! If you have a desire to share your skills by teaching a project (or two), we would love to hear from you! The program will take place from June 11th to August 6th, every Thursday and Friday from 2 – 4:30 PM. We plan to divide participants into the following groups:

Kindergarten – 2nd Grade: Thursday from 2 - 3 PM

3rd/4th Grade: Thursday from 3:30 - 4:30 PM

5th/6th Grade: Friday from 2 - 3 PM

Preschool: Friday from 3:30 - 4:30 PM

Again, if you are interested in volunteering, please reach out to us no later than June 2nd. Our phone number is 436-2812. Thank you!

We will also be hosting an adult book club once a week: “Novels and Java”. It will be held every Friday from 10:00 – 11:00 A.M from June 11th to August 6th, coinciding with the youth program schedule. We hope to see you there! Lastly, there will be an ongoing program designed to encourage patrons of all ages to keep reading during the summer. Participants will track the number of books they read and can earn a variety of prizes by meeting their goal. The final day to record your progress is August 15th. Ask a library staff member for more details starting June 1st. If you are a local business owner and would like to donate prizes, please reach out to us. Any contribution would be greatly appreciated!

As a final thought, we would like to remind our Storytime families that the last day will be May 28th. We are so excited for what is coming; see you at the library this summer!
