County Burn Ban Will Go Into Effect Monday, June 28

By Raymond Ragsdale

Because of the weather and dry conditions of Powder River County and surrounding areas, the Broadus Volunteer Fire Department is encouraging residents to be careful!! On Monday, June 28th, the Powder River Commissioners will sign into resolution a burn ban. This will restrict all outdoor burning of natural vegetation materials along with trash burning.

If weather conditions change, residents can burn if done safely. Please contact the Powder River County Sheriff’s Office, 436-2333, if you plan on burning. Burn ban restrictions allow us not to have to go into Stage 1 Restrictions which would not allow any burning until restrictions are lifted.

The Fire Department has already responded to wildland fires along with one baler fire. Please be vigilant in your activities and report any smoke sightings ASAP to the Sheriff’s Office.
