Half of the population of Canada lives south of a line of latitude roughly coinciding with that of Coalwood, MT, or 45.7' North. Canada's two largest cities, Toronto and Montreal, as well as large populations in Ottawa and Halifax, lie south of this latitude, and thus a large swath of the country's 38 million overall population.
