June Rains Make For Bountiful Growth

Blue skies in late June made for excellent haying weather, and when combined with the moisture from earlier in the year we see hay crops like the one pictured above, that came off an un-improved feed ground. A good grass year indeed.

Early June precipitation layered on the nice moisture received during April and May producing abundant grass and hay growth across the county. Over the past few weeks we've heard from several area residents who proclaimed this to be one of the best grass years they've seen – indeed the grass has really taken off following the cold start to the spring. Two track roads now need to be mowed to prevent grass from plugging up radiators and creating fire hazards as the grass dries. This stands in stark contrast to the last two years, where prairie grasses basically didn't grow enough to be an issue.
