By Broadus Schools Activities Director Mike Richards

ImPACT Baseline Testing

ImPACT (Immediate Post-Concussion Assessment and Cognitive Testing) is described as a scientifically validated computerized neurocognitive test used by more than 7,400 high schools and 1,000 colleges and universities to help evaluate and manage suspected concussions.

Every Broadus student planning to participate in athletics needs to establish an ImPACT baseline. This baseline needs to be reestablished every two years. All 5th, 6th, 8th, 10th and 12th graders and any new students need an initial or renewal baseline.

AD Mike Richards will be available from 2pm to 6pm on the following dates: July 18,19,20,21 & 25. August 1,2,3,4,8,9,10 & 11 for testing. Testing will take place in the high school library. Please use the teachers entrance at the back of the school to gain entrance to the library to avoid the summer clean up crews.

Dragonfly Max

Dragonfly is a one stop shop for athletics scheduling, pre-participation paper work and communication for AD’s, coaches, parents and athletes.

Parents, if you do not already have a Dragonfly account please contact Mike Richards to set one up. The easiest way to do this is in person, using a computer and it takes about 15 - 20 minutes. You will need to be able to access your email account so have your password with you. Times and dates for dragonfly setup are the same as ImPACT testing. If you have already set up an account and are having trouble accessing it, contact Mike Richards. Do not set up another account!

Physicals

Don’t wait, get physicals done ASAP. Physicals must be on a MHSA physical form. The clinic in Broadus has the forms or you can get a copy online at MHSA.org or stop by the school; there are some on the table outside of Dixie’s office.
