The Lady Hawk team played Bridger and Broadview/Lavina last weekend, racking up an easy 64-24 win against Bridger and falling in a close game to Broadview/Lavina 42-45.

Broadus played well against Bridger, leading in most offensive categories save their free throw percentage, sinking only 5 of 16 from the line for 31%.

Mia Mader had a big night against Bridger, scoring 20 points as she shot 9/12 on field goals. Mader also had 9 steals in the game and 6 rebounds. Emma Isaacs scored 19, with 6 steals and 3 rebounds.

Broadus scored 32 points off turnovers in the game, as the Lady Hawks teamed up for 27 steals against Bridger.

Broadus Head Coach Ashley Emmons commented on the win during a recent interview: "The team is coachable, responsible, and respectful, and any adjustments I made they executed flawlessly. That was the first time this season that all those things really came together, and it's great to see and be a part of."

On Saturday Broadus played the Lady Pirates of Broadview/ Lavina, a team featuring a 6' 2" skilled player that was able to score on Broadus and bring down a lot of rebounds.

Despite the mismatch, Broadus went out to a lead midway through the first quarter and kept the lead into the third quarter, where the Lady Pirates entire team, bench, and crowd seemed to gain the momentum. Broadus trailed by as many as 8 points in the fourth quarter before pulling to within striking distance in the waning minutes of the game but couldn't quite close the gap.

"That was a tough loss, but I'm proud of the girls for not giving up and coming back," Emmons said. Over the course of the game Broadus won in scoring in three of the four quarters, but that third quarter intensity by Broadview/Lavina was just enough to squeak out a win.

Broadus next faces a young up-and-coming Terry team, which has a few wins and losses thus far in the season.
