SENIOR HAPPENINGS

By Senior Center Director Tammy Jackman

Whew, glad to have last week’s weather behind us and hopefully Spring is just around the corner. In regards to the old saying, “March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb”, I hope it comes in like a lamb, remains lamb like throughout and then goes out like a lamb as well. With lots of good moisture of course.

We are still having the arthritis exercises with Julie Riley every Monday and Wednesday at 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Cressi Johnson is here every Tuesday and Thursday at 9 a.m. for chair yoga. Both are well attended, very beneficial and can be adjusted to your activity level. If you would like to join either of the classes, come on down at any of those times and join us.

Cooking class is winding down, with only 3 weeks left! It has been a fun time to visit and learn a new way of cooking different foods. Our last class cooked lentil tacos, amazingly not too bad, I don’t believe I want a steady diet of it though. We will definitely be having some type of class again next year; we have a couple of ideas but would welcome any thoughts the readers may have.

Cressi Johnson will be doing blood pressure checks the second Wednesday of the month at 1 p.m. Linda Wolff will be at the center on March 8th. If you need to see her, please contact Tammy. Stitching and lunch will be on the 14th and 28th at 10 a.m. Bring down your hand work and join in. Bunco will be held on the 23rd at 1 p.m.

We received a new shipment of food bank boxes so if you need a little extra help come on down, grab one and peruse our pantry. We have had several donations to our food pantry and the center this last month. Several wished to remain anonymous. Ginger Johnstone and Lori/Bruce Dinstel donated eggs, which are a hot commodity right now, Pam Nisley donated pie filling, Liz Riter donated food items, Cressi Johnson donated clothing, and Pat Ridenour donated dishrags and pot holders. Thank you to everyone who donates whether it is to the food pantry or the center itself, we appreciate each and every one of you.

If you are looking for something to do come down and see us. We always have a puzzle out or a card game going. I have two bookshelves full of books for people to borrow or just come in, have a cup of something hot and visit. We would love to see you!
