Too Many Mule Deer Tags?

Region 7 mule deer hunters argue that overhunting in recent years has contributed to a drop in eastern Montana's mule deer population. In response to a statewide decline in mule deer numbers, FWP recently initiated a rewrite of its mule deer management plan, and has scaled back the number of mule deer doe tags it has issued to hunters in Regions 6 and 7 in recent years to address declining populations.
