The Powder River Historical Museum currently features a front window display honoring D-Day, which took place 75 years ago today (June 6, 1944). In the picture above, Bob Talcott holds a plaque featuring a one dollar silver certificate. The 1935 dated certificate was donated to the museum by a French fellow who was part of a tour group which came through Broadus in 2009. Through an interpreter, the man relayed how a US serviceman had given the certificate to his parents, after they helped care for the serviceman following an injury he sustained in the D-Day Invasion. This fellow wanted the certificate to go to a museum where it would be appreciated, and donated it to our local museum, where it is now on display. Pictured with Bob are Ron Talcott, Jean Hough, and Pat Hanlan.
