Remains of the christening bottle of the Liberty Ship William Bradford. Christened by Mary Bradford in 1942, this heirloom eventually came west to Bradford's home in Wyoming. It resided on her mantelpiece for years and eventually passed to her eldest son, Forest Dunning. The bottle has been honored on Dunning's mantelpiece ever since. Photo by the author, Bradford's grandson.
