Sheriff's Department responds to "borrowed" fire truck

The Powder River County Sheriff’s Department has had a slow but steady summer, recently responding to an incident at the Powder River Stockman’s Club. On Saturday, Robin Reames was cited for Criminal Trespass after being asked to leave multiple times, and failing to do so.

On July 12, Deputy Blaine Perry arrested Catherine Breuer for taking a Belle Creek Fire Department truck. According to Sheriff Drane, the Sheriff’s Office planned to charge Breuer with felony theft, but the Powder River County Attorney said they would not prosecute her for a felony, as Breuer’s boyfriend said that she had borrowed the vehicle to come to town, and would return the vehicle.

Drane mentioned that his department wasn’t happy with the charge, stating in a note to the public that “If someone “borrows” your pickup, please don’t be upset with the Sheriff’s Office when they are only charged with a misdemeanor.”

Jeff Noble, Powder River County Attorney, noted that there is still a pending charge - though the felony charge has been dismissed, a misdemeanor charge of unlawful use of a motor vehicle is now pending.
