There was an overnight turn-around with our feathered friends last week as we continue to slowly transcend into spring. Last Thursday, I paid the ranch a visit, and saw quite a few Rough Legged Hawks; Saturday the winter hawks were gone, replaced by equally beautiful red tailed hawks and their smaller but no less beautiful and no less deadly smaller cousins.

The raucous cries of bluejays are suddenly gone too, but have been replaced by the beautiful variety of sounds from our other wee pals. One of my favorites is the off-key squark of robins, in the pre-dawn hours.
