Courthouse Siren to be tested June 28

The Powder River County Sheriff’s Department will be conducting a test of the courthouse emergency siren on Friday, June 28th, at 2:00 PM.

The test will be comprised of a series of different tones. In the case of a real emergency, a specific tone would be played, depending on the nature of the emergency. A “steady, high tone” denotes a weather emergency. A “fast high and low wail” would be played in the case of a fire, and a “slow, morbid wail” would be played in the case of a chemical spill.

The three siren tones, as well as the test tone we are used to hearing on Mondays at noon, will all be played on the 28th.
