Drop your unused prescriptions off on drug take back day

Celebrate National Prescription Drug Take Back Day by taking any or all unused prescriptions to the Take Back box located in the hallway outside the Powder River County Sherriff’s office in Broadus. The 18th National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is Saturday, Oct. 26. People can drop off prescriptions 24 hours a day or on the 26th.
The National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is a biannual campaign by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration that aims to provide a safe, convenient and responsible way of disposing of prescription drugs while educating the public about the potential abuse of medications. According to the Drug Enforcement Administration, the last Take Back Day in April 2019 collected 937,443 pounds of unused or expired prescription medication nationwide, which brings the total amount of collected prescription drugs to 11.8 million pounds since the campaign first started in 2010.
The National Prescription Drug Take Back Day addresses a crucial public safety and public health issue and provides an opportunity for Americans to prevent drug misuse and overdose.
