Three individuals were named winners in the first outdoor challenge issued by Powder River Extension last week, according to Extension Agent Mary Rumph.

"Darren and Kade VerWolf and Delaney Ruland submitted photos of every item on the list and some additional ones, too," said Rumph.

Darren and Kade had photos of three different tracks, including raccoon, deer and goose. They also had two photos of something spiney, cactus and Russian Olive trees. Their photos were taken with a GoPro, so the quality wasn't excellent, but the task was well done. They spent a couple hours walking from their home to the river and back...a nice break from homework, according to their mother Amber.

Delany Ruland also spent a two hour adventure down by the river, capturing a series of beautiful photos she shared on FaceBook. She photographed tracks of a racoon and skunk, and the nest of possibly a sparrow, "because it was so small".

"Congratulations to these individuals who experienced nature up close!" said Rumph. "Since there was a tie, they will each receive a $25 gift certificate to a local business of their choice," concluded Rumph.

"Pat Hanlan contacted me to explain with delight that she had found most of the items listed on the scavenger hunt in her yard," added Extension Agent Julie Riley.
