Broadus Elementary students participate in Buddy Poppy Coloring Contest

Powder River County students in grades K-2nd recently participated in the Buddy Poppy Coloring Contest sponsored by the VFW Auxiliary and the National Home. The top three winners were then entered in the state contest. Winners at the local levels are: Kindergarten, 1st place, Reagan Boman, 2nd Mesa Graff and 3rd place Dolly Randall. First Grade, 1st place, Griffin Gardner, 2nd Sophie Ostendorf and 3rd place, Trace Emmons. Second Grade winners: 1st place Rickee Bilbrey, 2nd Hazel Kinzer and 3rd place Maci Emmons.

First, second and third place winners received an award for their efforts. All of the students who participated earned a chocolate kiss. The teachers also received an award for encouraging their students to enter the contest. The state winners will be announced at a later date.

Molly Lloyd helped make the Buddy Poppy certificates, photgraphed the event, and helped Buddy Poppy Chairman Pat Hanlan.

From the local auxiliary, we congratulate all of the winners and say thank you to all the students who participated.
