School Sports Begin Soon

The fall school sports season is coming up fast; here are a few notes and changes centered around school sports.

With official practice for football, volleyball, and cross country beginning August 13th, prospective student athletes should schedule their sports physicals now, according to Broadus Activities Director Mike Richards. This year, physicals will be performed on an appointment basis at the clinic. Forms for the physical are also available at the clinic.

A new Montana law now allows home school and private school students to participate in public school athletic programs. Senate Bill 157 was signed into law this year, and Richards said he may have more information after meetings later this month, but the gist of the law is that home schooled kids residing within the district are eligible to play for Broadus.

In other school sports news, the high school football camp scheduled for July 26th and 27th will begin earlier in the day than previously planned, with the first session now beginning at 6 AM and running until 7:45, and the second session from 9-11 in order to beat some of the heat. For more questions, please call Coach Ross Randall at 406-740-5930.

The first games of the season will take place August 27th, with junior high and varsity football games in Forsyth, and junior high and high school volleyball games at home, hosting Jordan.

For those looking to view the games from home, Broadus home games as well as many away games will be broadcast on the NFHS Network. Yearly passes are $69.99, with $20 of that money returned to the Broadus school. Monthly passes are $10.99; the school does not receive money from monthly subs.
