Museum To Host Afternoon Tea & Fashion Show This Sunday

The Powder River Historical Museum will be hosting a Sunday Afternoon Tea and Women’s Fashion Show this week at 2pm on September 12th. Please join us at the museum for tea and treats and a modern and historic fashion show presented by Silver Sage, Western Chick and Copper Moon Bead Artistry. The event is free, but donations to the museum’s operating fund are always appreciated.

We’re excited to be moving forward with the event this year, since it was originally conceived as a celebration of the centennial of women’s suffrage in 2020. The suffrage movement was a decades-long fight to win the right to vote for women in the United States. On August 18, 1920, the 19th Amendment to the Constitution was finally ratified and was signed into law on August 26th, enfranchising all American women and declaring for the first time that they, like men, deserved all the rights and responsibilities of citizenship. This gathering will give us the opportunity to celebrate both women’s history and the role of women in our modern community.

The fashion show, featuring local models, will be presented by Laura Lee Ullrich and will showcase clothing and jewelry items from Silver Sage Clothing, Western Chick and Copper Moon Bead Artistry. Each model will also exhibit items from the museum’s vintage clothing section. As you watch the show, enjoy tea and coffee from real china as well as a variety of treats donated by friends of the museum.

It’s looking like fine outdoor weather, so come dressed for a lovely afternoon and don’t miss this celebration of women’s history! Men, of course, are also welcome!
