By Henry A. Malley Memorial Library Head Librarian Barb Mitchell

To those of you who may be new to the area, don’t panic! This is just 1st winter, which follows 1st fall. 1st fall was those 3 weeks of really nice, cool weather without a lot of wind that we just left. First winter is what we are experiencing right now, an early snowfall that leaves the unprepared wondering what hit them. But don’t worry, we will be back to 2nd fall by the end of today or maybe tomorrow at the latest. 2nd fall will last until close to the end of November usually, at which point 2nd winter will arrive and last through March. In March you should expect 1st spring, followed by 3rd winter, followed by 2nd spring. (Borrowed from Rob Kingwell on Facebook)

Our library is now fully staffed once again with Barb Mitchell as the library director and Kathy Alderman as librarian.

We are hoping to start up StoryTime on October 19th, continuing each Tuesday morning from 10:30-11:00. Playtime is encouraged afterwards, as is checking out books.

We have been getting more and more new books in, and we love the feedback from our patrons on what they would like us to order. In the next few weeks we hope to order more large print books for those who have asked.

We have gotten a few new memorial books in- “Cloudmaker” by Malcolm Brooks in memory of Charley Emmons from Randy Sullivan. “The Dead Don’t Dance” by Charles Martin, “Maggie” by Charles Martin, “Waltzing Montana” by Mary Clearman Blew, all in memory of Marie Gotfredson Scoville from Waylon and Melissa Billing, and “Bad Apple, a Tale of Friendship” by Edward Hemingway for Pam Ware from Liz Riter.

For our early readers we have “1,2,3 What do you See?”, a counting book for toddlers, “Get the Giggles”, a first joke book, “Ten Red Apples” by Pat Hutchins, “The Seasons of Arnold’s Apple Tree” by Gail Gibbons.

“75 Miles” by Robyn VanDerSys, is a post- apocalyptic novel for our young adults.

For our adult readers, we have “Blind Tiger” by Sandra Brown, “Enemy at the Gates” by Vince Flynn, “Best Kept Secrets”, “The Truth of it All” by Gwen Florio, a Montana author, “Billy Summers” by Stephen King, “The Madness of Crowds” by Louise Penny, “Three Sisters” by Heather Morris, “Robert B. Parker’s Sone’s Throw” by Mike Lupica, “Forgotten in Death” by J.D Robb, “A Slow Fire Burning” by Paula Hawkins, “Another Kind of Eden” by James Lee Burke, “The Jailhouse Lawyer” by James Patterson, “The Sisters of Auschwitz” by Roxane van Iperen, and “Apples Never Fall” by Liane Moriarty.

Our library hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday 10AM- 5PM, Wednesday 12PM-6PM and Saturday 10AM- 2PM.
