Several candidates have recently thrown their hats in the ring for the local primary election. Those names include Devin Boman for Sheriff/ Coroner, Donna Giacometto for County Commissioner, and Phoebe Amsden for Public Administrator. Both Giacometto and Amsden currently hold the positions for which they have filed.
Positions open this year include: County Commissioner, District 2 (six year term), County Clerk and Recorder (four year term), Sheriff/ Coroner (four year term), County Attorney (four year term), County Superintendent of Schools (four year term), Public Administrator (four year term), County Treasurer/Assessor (four year term) and Justice of the Peace (four year term).
Also open are Precinct Committee persons for all parties (two year terms) and Conservation District Supervisors in Districts 1, 3 and 4 (four year terms).

Previous applicants from January include Catherine Landa for Justice of the Peace, Cynde Jo Gatlin for Clerk & Recorder, and Nancy Gaskill for Treasurer.
The filing deadline for the June 7 primary is March 14.
