Superintendent's Report

By Broadus Schools Superintendent Jim Hansen

One of our most important functions is to employ the best employees to work with your children. As most of you are aware, there is a national shortage of workers. Education was already experiencing a reduction in the number of college graduates entering the field of education, and the national shortage of workers has only complicated the matter. We are competing financially with our neighboring states and other Montana school districts. The competition for educators between schools has led to some interesting discussions with fellow superintendents. Frequently the discussions occur over size of the school district, location, and financial equity. Fortunately, your school district is able to offer a competitive wage, loan forgiveness, and district housing.

The District is currently accepting applications for mathematics, art, family consumer science, and elementary teaching positions. Information and applications can be viewed at http://www.broadus.net under the “Job Openings” heading.

Your District will be experiencing more staff changes over the next few years. As trustees, your financial and employment decisions will affect students’ education for years to come.
