Jesse Barnhart, Broadus 1st grader, won first place along with a coveted bison skull trophy in the 6U 76lb heavyweight division at the Montana Open Wrestling Tournament, last weekend in Billings. The event featured 2,400 wrestlers, including a number of youth classes as well as an open class where around 80 adults competed.

Barnhart, competing in his second year of competition, is the son of Elliott and Abbey Barnhart of Broadus. His younger brother Tizer also competed in the 6U 61lb class, where he won two matches and made it to the second day of competition.

Wrestlers from Montana as well as a number of other states and provinces competed in the event. The 2022 event, held at the Metra, was the 16th year in which the tournament has been held, with the number of participants increasing regularly.
