Powelson Manufaturing Electric Curling Irons

J.W. Powelson, well known in this county as the promoter of the Anna May Oil Company, is general manager of the Rogers Electric Company at Miles City which has started the manufacture there of a patented electric curling iron. The iron is something out of the ordinary, being insulated so that after it warms up it will maintain an even temperature no matter how long it burns. The company has orders on its books for 4,000 irons, one order from a Butte jobber alone for five gross or 720 irons. The plant will be turning out from five to six hundred irons a day within the next 30 days and expects to employ from 12 to 15 persons daily.

School Notes: New Spur Staff

Vivian Dent has been chosen to be Editor-in-Chief of the Spur for next year, and Lucille Huckins will be her Assistant Editor. The rest of the staff are as follows: Sophomore Editor, Carl Mackaben; Junior Editor, Claire Mitchell; Senior Editor, Paul Halleck; Business Manager, James Cole; Literary Editor, Betty Elkins; Sports Editors, Chris Mangen and Howard Smith; Humor Editor, Bettyan Halleck, Operator, Vernon Bandy; Assistant Operator, Gene Wice; Art Editor, Margaret Wice; Assistant Art Editor, Rita Cathey; Typists, Phyllis Alderman and Margaret Roberts.

The freshman editor will not be chosen until next fall. To give them an idea of what is required of each, this staff will publish the May issue.

All of these people have been selected because of their ability to work and cooperate with others, therefore it will be safe to say that the “Spur” will be as good as ever (or maybe a little better).

Assistant Coach Tom Brewer has donated the use of a building for weight training and practice purposes. Several community members have already donated or loaned equipment to the club. Thank you very much!
