Band To Play With Dallas Brass In Dayton

The Broadus High School Band will travel to Dayton, Wyoming this weekend to play alongside the Tongue River High and Middle School bands in “American Musical Journey”, a program incorporating a full complement of brass and percussion to provide a “musical travelogue through American history”, according to the Dallas Brass website. Dallas Brass, the musical ensemble coordinating and playing in American Musical Journey, is a group formed in 1983 which travels the world performing for audiences of all ages, having played at Carnegie Hall, touring overseas to Europe and Asia, and performing for Presidents Gerald Ford and George H.W. Bush.

Dallas Brass is currently touring Montana, playing this week in Livingston, Laurel, and Billings as they make their way to Dayton on Saturday.

The group of Broadus students playing in the performance will go to a rehearsal and clinic on Saturday, where Dallas Brass will offer musical and performance tips. On Saturday evening at 7 pm at the Tongue River High School Gymnasium the concert will commence, with the combined schools performing with Dallas Brass, where they will perform works from George Washington’s era to the present day, incorporating classical and contemporary styles from the masters such as Bernstein and Sousa, on up to Dixieland, swing, folk, pop music, and other styles.

Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for students, and are available at https://gofan.co/app/ school/WY22330.
